Prepare Your Property To Show

Okay, it's difficult out there, but you still need to sell your home. If that's the case, then you want it to look its very best. Here are some tips and guidelines to put your property at the top of the list.

Interior:

Open blinds and curtains

Turn on all lights

Make sure all rooms are clean

Make sure all beds are made

Vacuum the floors

Set the thermostat to a comfortable level

Turn on some soft music

Make the house smell good with an air freshner or bake cookies or bread

Exterior:

Mow lawns, trim hedges, sweep sidewalks

Pick up all toys, tools, bikes, etc.

Close garage doors (make sure garage is clean and tidy)

Park cars on street or around the corner

Other suggestions:

Meet the agent who is showing your home, get a card and then leave if possible

Spend an hour with a home staging specialist for extra help

Prepare a binder with all property information including extras and community information

Interior:

Repaint or touch-up walls

Repair or replace old molding

Check electrical (lights, doorbells, etc.)

Clean blinds, curtains and windows

Repair or replace faucets & fixtures if needed

Box up and place in storage as much as possible

Seal driveway and clean any oil stains from cement

Paint siding & trim

Wash all windows
